STUDENT CLUBS & ORGANIZATIONS
STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS: In order to give our students every possible educational opportunity, A.W. Beattie Career Center is a member of several nationally-recognized student clubs and organizations. Students are encouraged to participate in one or more student clubs and organizations, which provide training in leadership and professionalism along with course-related competitions, volunteer opportunities and school-wide events.
VSO MEMBERSHIP DRIVE: It’s that time of year again - it’s A.W. Beattie Career Center’s annual membership drive for SkillsUSA, FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), BAMP (Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh), and the FIRST Robotics team! A student who joins, and participates, in a student organization has the opportunity to participate in leadership conferences, skills competitions and various school-wide activities. Please consider joining one or more of the student organizations that A.W. Beattie Career Center has to offer!
THE BEATTIE AMBASSADORS
THE BEATTIE AMBASSADORS: The Beattie Ambassadors, established during the 2010-2011 school year, is a goup of students chosen by their instructors to represent A.W. Beattie Career Center during activities and presentations. Ambassadors may participate in activities such as: Recruitment, Student Tours, Green Technology Tours and Open House activities.
FAMILY, CAREER AND COMMUNITY LEADERS OF AMERICA (FCCLA)
FIRST ROBOTICS: Students from A.W. Beattie Career Center's local FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics team will be participating in the organization's 2012 Regional Robotics Competition March 8 - 10th at the Petersen Events Center.
The competition will feature 39 total robotics teams from several states and Canada. The teams will be judged not only on their robot's ability to perform a specific task, but also on teamwork, design, engineering and sportsmanship. Teams will also have the ability to advance to the FIRST Championships, held this April in St. Louis, Missouri.

The National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) is America's highest award for excellence in career & technical education. Like the National Honor Society (NHS), NTHS promotes academic and professional excellence. Students not only have to carry high GPA's at their sending district, but they must also meet or exceed additional criteria as students at A.W. Beattie Career Center. Students who participate in NTHS completed community service activities throughout the school year and have the opportunity to apply for national scholarships.
